Corrosion protection for HVAC air-cooled condenser coils
A world leading coating technology for corrosion protection for HVAC air-cooled condenser coils. Promek Technologies water based single-part acrylic coatings and coil cleaners are greener and extremely effective in protecting both new and existing heat exchangers and panels. Developed and manufactured by our partners in Australia with 40 years research. Promek AMC has been tested to 10,000 hrs ASTM B117 (AS 2331.32 – 1980) Neutral Salt Spray.
The scientific team at Promek Technologies have been able to to develop a thinner, longer lasting product with enhanced energy efficiency and condensation properties that makes the Promek AMC coating a truly cost effective choice for the HVAC and heat exchange industry.
Heat exchange units are critical for the creation of comfortable living environments. It has been well documented that heat exchange makes up to 55% of buildings energy consumption. Inefficient poorly maintained heat exchange units can add thousands of dollars to a buildings monthly electricity bill. The two main issues affecting the efficiency of heat exchange units are:
- Corrosion caused by the environment such as salt and pollution
- Fouling of the heat exchange unit with contamination such as dirt and biofilm
The Promek AMC range of coatings deliver significant efficiencies to the condenser and evaporator heat exchange unit.

- Surfaces remain free from surface corrosion retaining heat exchange capacity
- The coating is smooth and resists build up of dirt and oil from pollution

Promek AMC is a water based epoxy resin that repels condensate and improves efficiency of any heat exchanger. The coating will extend the life of any heat exchanger either on new equipment or in the field and already corroded. A large improvement in the life of air cooled condensers in coastal areas is now possible. The super hydrophobic properties of the coating (repels water) mean less defrosts and reduced bio fouling of coils. In addition the use of a silver nano permanent anti-microbial additive means that this coating will dramatically reduce the build up of microbial contamination, one of the leading causes of poor indoor air quality. Promek AMC can be easily applied on site and is suitable for small systems right through to the largest industrial heat exchangers and is even suitable for micro channel coating.
Salt test results
The photographs show an uncoated coil and one coated with Promek AMC after 500 hours of an acid / salt test. (ASTM B117 Test). If your car was subjected to this test it would be destroyed in 50 hours. The results of this test clearly demonstrate the efficacy of the Promek AMC coating.
Promek AMC has been proven to make significant performance gains.
The graph shows the heat exchange efficiency lost over a 12 month period due to the issues identified above. When Promek AMC is applied to an evaporator coil the heat exchange is maintained as designed
